Wisteria is located in the heart of the historic district on tree canopied Fifth Avenue at Seventh Street. It was built in 1900 of cypress and heart pine for one of Laurel's founding fathers, Silas Gardiner. Wisteria is one of the first and finest homes built on Fifth Avenue and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a pivotal structure. Wisteria, the lavender house, is located across the street from Mississippi's first museum, the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art.
