Webster House, a shining example of Gothic Revival architecture, was fashioned in New York, carried by ship around Cape Horn, and assembled in Alameda in 1854. It holds the double distinction of being Alameda's oldest house and a historical monument. The home was owned by Deacon John Nelson Webster, whose family tree includes a branch for Daniel Webster, one of America's finest statesmen. This home is an original Andrew Jackson Downing, Architect, also known as the Father of Architecture. It is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places and is one of a type architecture left in the United States today - the original "Pioneer Home of the Island". So, take a step back in time and truly remember the past! We have Northern California Best Places Award four years in a row. A beautiful site for your wedding and reception, or private party. Restaurant on premises offers High Tea, scones and Devonshire Cream, English Bangers, Tea Sandwiches and petit fours and other specialty desserts. We have dinners daily - by appointment only.
