Langenburg, Saskatchewan

The “Borchardt House ” as it is known by locals was built in 1924. In 1928 Reverend Alvin Borchardt and his wife Anna (Ring) moved into the house. Reverend Borchardt, a Lutheran minister, came to Langenburg to preach at Christ Lutheran Church. After 48 years in the ministry, Reverend Borchardt retired. He died in 1985. Mrs. Borchardt continued to live in the house until the spring of 2000 when she moved to a home for seniors in Langenburg. Mrs. Borchardt lived in the house for 72 years. The house was built before indoor plumbing and furnaces. Originally the family had an outhouse in the back yard and a coal furnace in the basement. The house has been renovated to its original 1920 character.
