Around the turn of the century the North Shore was a summer playground for Boston's high society, much as Newport was to New York. Manchester By-The-Sea, in the heart of the North Shore, has been sought out by the most discriminating for many years. They were drawn here by its scenic harbor, sandy beach, the quiet, and the short trip from Boston. The Old Corner Inn is conveniently located on Route 127, a scenic stretch of road that takes you through this beautiful area. This road is popular for touring by car, bicycle, walking or jogging, and also leads you to the attractions of neighboring Salem, Gloucester and Rockport.
