Downhill skiing and snowboarding are available at the Mount Baker Ski Area
which operates, snow permitting, November through April. Cross-Country
Skiing and Snowshoeing are also popular activities in the winter. Trout
fishing in Canyon Creek and the Nooksack River starts in mid-June and
continues until fall. The creek bar is also a fine place to collect a
variety of rocks including fossils. Many spectacular hiking trails are
nearby in the Mount Baker National Forest, or walk for hours along Canyon
Creek and the Nooksack River. Be sure to take the trail up the creek, into
the pristine canyon which gives the creek it's name. Mountain Biking and
White-water Rafting are also popular summer activities.
