If you enjoy the warm history of yesteryear, or are a history or architecture buff, you'll appreciate the authenticity of the fully restored Federal period Captain Swift Inn. Enjoy our home as you relax and step back to a time when hosting guests was important.
Captain Frank Swift established Maine's first passenger schooner fleet while living in this white clapboard village landmark inn. Originally built for lumber merchant Simon Hunt during the presidency of James Madison, our house retains it's wonderful wide pine floors, chair rails, exposed beams, intricate moldings, and five fireplaces, one with a beehive oven.
Between 8:00 and 9:30 each morning, you'll be served a full, hearty breakfast in the dining room. The menu changes daily, but always features inn specialties such as; breakfast casseroles, stuffed French toast, strawberry-almond waffles, baked apple pancake souffle, crepes Chantilly and creme broule French toast.
