Spalding Inn
199 Mountain View Road
Whitefield, New Hampshire

The Spalding Inn, located in the heart of the White Mountains in Whitefield, New Hampshire, is one of New England’s most charming inns. Situated on two hundred acres in the White Mountains and surrounded by manicured lawns, orchards, and perennial gardens, it offers you the perfect escape from city life. In 1926, the Alexander summer estate was purchased by Anna and Randall Spalding. The Spaldings added on to the lovely home and opened their doors to house guests, who became their friends for more than sixty years. The inn became a traditional gathering place for families and friends to relax and renew. Today, this tradition started by the Spaldings continues with superb food, complete but unobtrusive service, comfortable rooms, and grand mountain views. The broad front porch offers the perfect place for rocking and taking in the mountain air and views. On chilly evenings a fire crackles in the stone fireplace of the main lobby. The inn is chock-full of interesting memorabilia, antiques, and collectibles. There are lots of nooks for quiet times and a library for your enjoyment. A favorite place to relax is the sun room, where you can watch television, play a game of bridge, or work one of the inn’s challenging jigsaw puzzles. As the heart of any home is the kitchen, so is the case with the Spalding Inn. Guests here enjoy delicious country breakfasts each morning and have the option of dining each evening at the inn. This romantic candlelight dinner features New England and continental cuisine. Before dinner, cocktails are served in the lounge and adjoining flagstone terrace. The dining room overlooks the Presidential Mountain range, and crisp linens, fresh flowers, and elegant silver enhance the wonderful food. The Spalding Inn is the perfect retreat, whether for a quiet romantic getaway, an active family vacation, a business meeting, or a perfect place for your wedding. Enjoy your stay at this special place in the beauty of the White Mountains.
