The Old Riverton Inn was originally an old stagecoach stop along the Hartford to Albany route and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Overlooking the wild and scenic designated west branch of the Farmington River and less than a mile from Peoples State Forest, the area abounds with outdoor activities including excellent trout fishing, canoeing, hiking, x-country skiing, biking, tubing, picnicking, and nature watching.
The quaint village of Riverton, also the home of The Hitchcock Museum and The Hitchcock Chair Factory Store, offers a visit back in time. Several unique shops in the village offer a variety of interesting articles, along with the Riverton General Store and the Village Sweet Shoppe, all adding to this charming and picturesque hamlet.
The inn's dining room is very popular for miles around and is open Wednesday through Sunday. Parties and meetings are held in the enclosed grindstone terrace and there is also the Hobby Horse Bar.
