The Queen Anne Inn has been hosting guests since 1867. Mr. Ritchie, a town merchant, originally built the home in 1865 as a wedding gift for his son. This quickly changed during early years as the Ritchie family house greeted discriminating guests to their elite boarding home, hosting vacationers and merchants travelling through the Port of Annapolis Royal.
The 1920's brought a dramatic change, as the Queen Hotel opened its doors as the finest accommodations to be found in the area. The full service hotel with all the modern conveniences of the era, became a favourite destination and the summer home to many Nova Scotia travellers. They expected, and received those extra little touches that still make the Queen Anne Inn an excellent choice when visiting Historic Annapolis Royal.
