Mad Creek Bed & Breakfast
167 W Park Avenue
Empire, Colorado

A Victorian cottage built in 1881 nestled in the magnificent Rocky Mountains. Built by the early settlers who came here to mine for silver. This cottage has been updated to offer both a rustic atmosphere and mountain charm. The parlor has a turn of the century, one-of-a-kind, barber chair located in the bay window, which allows you to enjoy the morning and afternoon sun. There is a stone fireplace, which makes a very cozy environment to enjoy a movie or peruse the many books of local history and maps. The bedrooms are filled with antiques, down pillows and comforters, home made quilts, pine floors, and many other pleasant surprises! In the winter breakfast is served by the gas fireplace in the dining room. When weather permits it is served in the outside gazebo among the beautiful wildflowers and the magnificent Rocky Mountains. There is also an outside waterfall and water fountain, birdhouses, and birdbaths, which add to the beautiful surroundings. For the avid climbers there are three "fouteeners" located within a half hour or less. Better known as two of Colorado's easiest and most accessible to climb are Grays Peak at 14,270 and Torreys at 14,267. The third one is Mt Bierdstadt at 14,060. All three of these have some of the most beautiful scenery in Colorado. Empire is located 42 miles west of Denver, off highway 70, exit 232. This is near the Historic communities of Georgetown, Silverplum, Idaho Spring, and Central City which are all living visions of a colorful mining past. In the winter Colorado's wonderful snow allows you to hit the slops of at least 6 major ski areas within 15 to 55 minutes. Loveland Ski area is 20 minutes from here and they have the highest chair lift in the world , reaching a maximum elevation of 12,700 feet. This is chair #9 which offers 360-degree panoramic views and an expanse of open bowl skiing and steep chutes directly off the eastern side of the Continental Divide. In our backyard is Berthold Pass, miles of backcountry trails and bowls await your cross-country gear. A wonderful outdoor hot tub awaits you after your day of so many fun activities. Something else especially for you is a massage which can be arranged in your room. We can host small weddings and family reunions in these wonderful Rocky Mountains.
