Hosts and owners, Sallie and Ron Shrewsbury, welcome you to their beautiful, 1920's style home on Harper Road in Beckley, West Virginia.
The home features three guest rooms, one with large private bath and two which share a bath. We have plans to add a bath during the next "off season" such that all rooms will soon have a private bath.
We serve a hearty breakfast, tailored as much as practical to guest preferences or special diet requirements. Breakfasts always include coffee or tea, juice, and a dish of mixed fresh fruit and yogurt. In the summertime, the fruit dish frequently includes blackberries, strawberries, raspberries or blueberries from our garden. Sliced fresh tomatoes from our garden are also served frequently. The main entrees usually include scrambled eggs accompanied by sausage or bacon, hot biscuits, gravy or grits when requested. For a finishing touch, peach butter, zuchinni marmalade, blackberry, raspberry and blueberry preserves, all homemade, are offered.
Pancakes, waffles or French toast are usually served at least one or two mornings per week.
For early risers, we also offer early coffee and the morning papers.
We are conveniently located near downtown, Mountain State University, Tamarack and the Exhibition Mine. Then, we are less than a half hour from the outdoor dramas at Grandview's outdoor amphitheater and whitewater rafting companies. For wintertime guests, we are approximately one half hour from Winterplace Ski Resort.
Other activities located nearby include the Daniel Vineyard, two antique malls and, on Saturday and Sunday, a large flea market.
All our rooms include cable TV, a good supply of books and current magazines, bottled water, hair dryers and toiletries you may have forgotten to bring.
Recent guests from Carlsbad, California commented that "We have enjoyed bed and breakfast establishments all over the world and yours ranks at the top."
Another guest from Cary, North Carolina commented that "This was an experience that you usually hear others talking about. Ya'll have made it a reality for us."
We are pleased that, during only our second year of B&B ownership, approximately fifteen percent of our guests have been repeat visitors.
We look forward to hearing from you.
