Mae's Place was built as a fox farm in 1936 by Wendell Graham, who also ran a lobster cannery on the shores below. Wendell's son Grant inherited the house and lived here with his wife Mary Elaine ("Mae") for many years
Mae's Place stood through generations of the lobster fishery. The house became a community landmark, and many a friendly face would drop in for salt fish or tea and biscuits at what came to be known simply as "Mae's Place."
Today, the house is owned by Grant and Mae's daughter Glenda Mae MacDonald and her husband Ken. They carry on the tradition of a friendly place where all are welcome. Mae's Place offers a relaxed, quiet environment for those wanting to experience the true Island culture, and who want to delve a little closer to the roots of this special part of Canada.
