Welcome and thank you for taking the time to find out more about our unique Inn nestled in the bush of the Madawaska Valley near the town of Barry’s Bay. We take pride in offering our guests personal attention and service in a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. It is perhaps our beautiful Dining Room with Warwick’s wonderful food that really sets us apart and keeps our guests returning. The Inn’s convenient location on Highway 60 allows easy access to the many tourist destinations and natural wonders of the Valley. Whether you are arriving from Ottawa, Toronto, the US or overseas, the Inn is easy to find both by car and snowmobile. Detailed instructions are included on our Directions page. Madawaska Valley Studio Tour This unique annual tour is steadily growing in popularity. While October is the month of the tour, many of the artisans have studios open year round. Algonquin Provincial Park is a not to be missed destination. Excellent interpretive walks and museums make this an educational adventure without you or the kids even realizing it. The logging museum is our favorite with its indoor and outdoor displays it really makes you part of history. Keep your eyes open for moose, bear and beaver because you never know when you will get lucky. (45 minutes west by car) The Barron River Canyon lies in Algonquin park but to the east of the Inn. You access it through the Sand Lake Gate towards Petawawa (45 minutes northeast by car). The 1.5km trail is not to be missed as you rise to the top on the 100m high canyon to view the river below. Bonnechere Provincial Park is a great place to put in your canoe, join in their archaeological programs or start a walk. We have a great little book available called “Walks of the Lower Bonnechere” for those wanting to explore on foot. (20 min drive) Madawaska Kanu Centre Canada’s leading kayak school plus home of the popular Madawaska Family Float Trips. (15 kilometers) White Water Rafting On the Ottawa River lies a stretch of water famous for white water adventure. There are several companies offering various trips. A great day of fun. (1 1/2 hr drive) Highland Wilderness Tours Trail riding by horse or by dogsled. A unique settling in the Highlands with friendly expert owners anxious to share their knowledge and love of their sports. (30 mins by car) Opeongo Line Settlement Road Drive or cycle this historic route through the magnificent hills of the Opeongo Mountains. There are numerous historic points of interest plus artisan studios and the Sierra Designs Factory & Outlet Store.(the Inn is right on part of the Opeongo Line) Historic Hamlet of Wilno Canada’s first Polish settlement and home to lovely craft galleries and a spectacular lookout. (10 kilometers) Bonnechere Caves One of Attractions Canada’s Provincial Gold Medal Winners. (approx. one hour along the historic Opeongo Line) Madonna House Pioneer Museum and Wool Shop A unique collections from Canada’s past located next to a “sheep to garment” wool shop. (15 kilometers)
