Captain Lindsey House
5 Lindsey Street
Rockland, Maine

Open the red front door and step inside. You'll immediately sense the polished hospitality that is the trademark of the Captain Lindsey House Inn, a Rockland B&B that magically blends a lovely, old English country-inn with a nineteenth-century Maine sea captain's home.... The large and elegant parlor is a wonderful room, warmed by a fireplace and appointed with lovely antiques and soft down couches that lure you to come in and rest from your travels. A separate, well-stocked library offers comfortable reading chairs and a chess game that's always ready to test your strategy. The library also has a desk and computer for guests' use as well as a telephone convenient for a quick call when you'd rather not take the time to return to your room. Up the grand staircase of our romantic Maine inn, your chamber will have been meticulously prepared in anticipation of your arrival. There'll be fresh flowers and your bed will be topped by a down comforter and down pillows, European-style. Whether you have chosen a spacious room or a suite, it will be appointed with television, telephone, wireless Internet, air conditioning and private bath with hair dryer, bathrobes, Egyptian cotton towels and fine toiletries. You'll note, however, that we've taken pains to see that modern amenities never infringe upon the grace of the antique furnishings. Your television, for example, is tucked away in a mahogany cabinet. Each morning, a very generous continental breakfast is served in the sunny oak-paneled Scottish "snug." If you prefer, we will deliver it to your door. In the warmer months, you may also enjoy your breakfast in our lovely walled-in garden patio. We invite you to join us here for afternoon refreshments, too, including a cool drink, sherry or port, and delicious snacks. When the temperature dips, we gather for afternoon tea by the parlor fire instead. The concierge will be delighted to help you plan your coastal activities and islands adventures as you embark on your Midcoast Maine vacation. Right in the neighborhood is the acclaimed Farnsworth Art Museum, with its collection of paintings by the Wyeth family and other notable Maine artists. The Maine Lighthouse Museum and Owls Head Transportation Museum are also not to be missed. Charming small shops, galleries, and antiques emporiums are just a stroll away. And depending upon the season, you can enjoy skiing, a round of golf at the Samoset (Rockport's nationally-ranked golf course), a sail on one of the area's famous windjammers, or a ferry trip to the islands that lie just offshore. For personal travel, or business travel, let the Captain Lindsey House Inn be your home port as you discover the best of the Maine Coast.
