Our family home for three quarters of a century, now recently renovated with all the modern conveniences in this small town of less than 500 people. The lodge is wonderfully furnished and decorated and is less than a 75 minute drive from New Orleans for you and your family to enjoy and remember for generations to come.
Jimmy married Dee Dee Hebert of New Orleans. Together they raised their four girls and traveled the world with the U.S. Air Force before retiring in New Orleans. A. G. married a local girl from Magnolia, Ms., Virginia Dare Payne and remained in Osyka, where they raised their daughter, Lynn. A. G. lived a full life until his recent death in Osyka at age 84. He is perhaps best remembered for his work on behalf of the outdoors and the environment, which included many noteworthy high level governmental appointments. Virginia and Lynn continue to live in the family compound in the home that was once occupied by Pinkie’s mother Ida Simmons. After graduation from Saint Mary of the Pines, Irene married the love of her life, David Legier, a young business executive and moved to New Orleans where they raised their family of three girls and two boys until her untimely death at age 39.
Now after three quarters of a century, our family home, named for me, has again been lovingly restored to its original beauty and charm, with all of the modern conveniences. The family welcomes you to visit and experience Lily Bird Lodge first hand, as we all did for so many years.
