With the characteristic charm of a Bed & Breakfast and the comfort of an Inn, Jonah Place is the perfect destination for your vacation or weekend getaway, as well as a special location for your wedding or meeting.

Thanks to the small-scale layout we are able to offer our guests personal attention and service. Opened in 1998 as the first Bed & Breakfast in Sussex, and now registered as one of Canada's Historic Places (www.historicplaces.ca) Jonah Place has since welcomed many guests from every corner of the world. Jonah Place Bed & Breakfast Inn is located in a beautiful heritage home dating back to 1884 and named after Judge Harry Jonah, who lived here as a boy and whose family owned the house from 1910 to 1962.

The unique details, which are in abundance in the house, have remained well preserved over the years. As a guest at Jonah Place, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the high ceilings with decorative crown mouldings, vast bay windows, imposing marble fireplaces, and "log cabin" style hardwood floors. Throughout the house you will find beautiful antiques and period pieces brought from many locations throughout the world, as well as various collectables and "treasures" we have gathered during our many travels. Set amongst this historical background,

Jonah Place offers five tastefully decorated guestrooms, all equipped with every contemporary comfort. In our sunny breakfast room we serve a delicious breakfast prepared with fresh and regional products and consisting of various home-baked treats, fresh fruits and juices, and a mouth-watering hot breakfast entree chosen from a menu that changes daily. During your stay, you will have the two spacious and comfortable parlours at your disposal. Feel free to relax with complimentary beverage machine and enjoy the peace and quiet by the fireplace with one of our many books, magazines, puzzles or board games. You will find a television and DVD/VCR player in all guest suites as well as wireless internet.

Jonah Place has a large, secluded garden with a variety of trees and plants where you can enjoy the view of the surrounding hills or spend some quiet time sipping on a drink in one of the lawn chairs, hammocks or on the veranda. The two parlours as well as the beautifully landscaped garden form a perfect setting for your wedding, reception or meeting.

Jonah Place is located on the edge of town in quiet surroundings. The restaurants and shops of Sussex are only a few minutes away. As a guest at Jonah Place you may want to savor a picnic lunch or rent one of our Dutch tandem bicycles to explore the area and admire its impressive natural beauty and historic covered bridges. As well the beautiful murals that depict Sussex's rich cultural heritage make the town the mural capital of the Maritimes. Sussex also offers excellent opportunities for golfing, hiking, canoeing, horseback riding and fishing. True to tradition, two major events take place in August and September; the Giant Flea Market & Antique Car Show and the Atlantic Balloon Fiesta. Sussex's central location in southern New Brunswick makes Jonah Place an excellent starting point for all of your daytrips. The location of the guestrooms with respect to the owners' private quarters is such that our guests are guaranteed complete privacy. Judge's Chamber Pink, burgundy and soft green colours make this a truly warm inviting room. The room is named after Judge Harry Jonah, who lived in the house as a boy and the Jonah Family who lived in the house for 56 years. The largest of the bedrooms on the second floor, this room has a queen size bed and ensuite 3-piece bathroom. Room rate per night: $ 89 - $ 95.  Flower Fantasy - the theme for this room was inspired by the view of the garden, as well as the room's floral design. It is decorated in soft greens, yellow and florals and has a Queen brass bed and ensuite 4-piece bathroom. Room rate per night: $ 89 - $ 95.  Victorian Charm - decorated in whites and pastel colours, this cosy air conditioned room has two single beds with a  private 4-piece bathroom featuring an original claw foot bathtub. Room rate per night: $ 75 - $ 89.  African Adventure - the theme for this room was inspired by the Victorian's love of the beautiful continent. Besides the African elements, we have tried to be true to the era in which the house was built. The room is decorated in off whites, beige and soft green and has a king-size bed, small fire place, air conditioning and ensuite 4-piece bathroom. Room rate per night: $ 95 - $ 110.  Maritime Moments - soft blue, yellow and white are the main colours in this room. The name refers to the region in which Jonah Place is located. This room features a king-size bed, small fire place, air conditioning and ensuite 4-piece bathroom with a large therapeutic air massage bath. This room also serves as our bridal and honeymoon suite. Room rate per night: $ 100 - $ 115. We start your day off right with our mouth-watering country fresh breakfast, prepared with regional products. The five choice menu breakfast changes daily and is served in our bright and sunny breakfast room with large bay windows overlooking the garden. The meal begins with a homemade bread and muffins followed by a fresh fruits bowl, artfully arranged or made into a salad. This is followed by an entrée of your choice from the menu. Some of our guests favourite dishes include the Cheddar Bacon Pancakes, Fruit Smoothies or delicioous parfaits and of course served with coffee and a selection of teas. In addition there also is a variety of cereals and warm oatmeal available on request.
