Located on historic Madeline Island of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore . . . a short ferry ride from Bayfield, Wisconsin . . . Woods Manor demonstrates the stately elegance of a simpler era in American history. Built in the 1920's, this grand traditional summer house has charmed visitors with its understated style and hint of romance. Woods Manor is an example of traditional and Spanish design influences. It features natural wood, stucco walls, large wooden beams and wrought iron fixtures. Its rooms are tastefully decorated in traditional American antiquities. Guests may select from rooms which combine the best features of vintage America with the luxuries of the present. Quarters range from a simple guest room to a secluded "honeymoon suite," complete with spa (all rooms have private baths). You may sunbathe on a private dock or beach. An adjoining carriage house or lodge may be the perfect spot for a family retreat.
Whether you are searching for a week-long vacation, weekend retreat, or even a spectacular setting for an elegant catered wedding, Woods Manor meets your needs. Open May through November, we welcome the opportunity to help you experience the traditions and relaxation of simpler times . . . You'll smell it in the fresh Wisconsin air . . . You'll hear it in our outdoor classical concerts . . . You'll see it all around you!!
Like all that is man-made on Madeline Island, Woods Manor is only a temporary guest on this pristine strip of land, long ago sacred grounds of the Ojibway Indians. Its five acre grounds blend with the environment, melding into the lush Northwoods landscape, rich foliage and playing neighbor to its many non-human inhabitants - deer, eagle, loons and others too numerous to mention. More information on the island is available from the Madeline Island Chamber of Commerce.
