Hutton House
Routes 250 & 219
Huttonsville, West Virginia

Hutton House was built in 1898, commissioned by E.E. Hutton, a local land developer for the private use of his family. The house is an eight-bedroom home of Queen Anne design and is akin to many of the other older large houses in the area. Hutton House is cozy, comfortable, beautiful and interesting, though in order to fully appreciate it you will have to see it for yourself. The first thing you'll notice as you arrive will be the vantage. Hutton House was built fifty feet above the valley floor overlooking the hamlet of Huttonsville, named after the same fellow who commissioned the house. Partially hidden behind several old trees Hutton House looks like she just materialized from a mystery novel, the proverbial “house on the hill ”. Her great covered porch and turret add to the mystique.
