Port Hood, Nova Scotia

Haus Treuburg Country Inn and Cottages is located in Port Hood, Nova Scotia, a pretty little fishing village on the Ceilidh Trail (Route 19) travelling along the west coast of Cape Breton Island. It is well known for sandy beaches and the warmest water in Eastern Canada. In this Heritage Home you will find a restaurant highly rated in "Where to eat in Canada. In December of 2000, you may have seen our Country Inn and Restaurant featured on "The Great Canadian Food Show. You still can see us on the food channel, as they still repeat it. "A German Sunday Morning Breakfast is available everyday, although not included in the room rate. In the evening Georg offers a romantic candlelight four course dinner in the dining room furnished with antiques and to the soothing sound of classical music. You can enjoy typical European appetizers and the homemade breads, the fresh local fish or Georg's speciality apple-strudel. Located on the second floor of the old house you will find the guest rooms. Bright, comfortable and attractively decorated. Each is equipped with all the amenities, such as cable TV, VCR, telephone and wireless internet access. The three cottages are nicely situated amongst apple trees between the old house and our private beach. The cottages are facing southwest with a beautiful view to Port Hood Island and a most spectacular sunset. Each cottage has one bedroom and a spacious living room. The kitchen, full bath, cable TV, VCR, phone and a barbecue on the large sundeck will hopefully provide everything you will need to make your stay comfortable. Boat tours are available for exploring the charming and scenic surroundings of Port Hood and Port Hood Island (only about one kilometre offshore).Very close there are two beautiful beaches where you can stroll along the pristine waters of Cape Breton. You can relax at our private beach or enjoy an outdoor chess game in front of our house. This area is the heart of the Gaelic language, Scottish fiddle music and step dancing. Come to the dances, concerts and ceilidhs and you will truly enjoy yourself.
