The Hanson House, a bed & breakfast on Bayou Teche in the Historic District of Franklin, La. is an antebellum cottage with spacious rooms and a peaceful atmosphere in the heart of Cajun Country. Originally built in 1849 by an English ship captain who traded on the Teche, the home was purchased shortly thereafter by mill owner Albert Hanson who expanded the house to its present size. A master craftsman, his custom millwork embellishments are an integral part of the house's character to this day. The house has remained in the family and is now owned by Albert Hanson's great-great-grandson, Colonel Clarence Kemper. His wife and partner, Bette Kemper, has been featured in a recent articleabout B&B proprietors. The house has retained much of its original furnishings and atmosphere. We promise a gracious welcome, a peaceful night, and a bounteous plantation breakfast. We hope you will join us.
