Bear Lodge was custom built in 2004 as a lodging facility separate from the owner’s residence allowing you to enjoy a cozy cabin feeling without being in someone else’s home.
Bear Lodge is located in serene Chilkoot inlet, 3 miles from the ferry terminal and 8 miles from downtown Haines.
Eagles and bears are a common sight near bear lodge because it is located near a crucial salmon habitat.
Chilkoot Lake State Park is just 1 mile away offering great wildlife viewing and fishing opportunities
Visitor’s to Bear Lodge are greeted by this massive carved grizzly bear. The bear was carved from a 1,500 year old redwood stump. The main tree was cut down in the late 1800’s by loggers in Northern California. The stump was discovered in 2003. It took two weeks to remove the stump with heavy equipment. The stump was then transported to Paso Robles, California where it was carved by John Daniels into the awesome work of art that visitors to Bear Lodge can enjoy.

Bear Lodge offers 4 large rooms each with a private bath and sliding door that opens to a deck with gorgeous views of the Chilkoot Inlet and surrounding mountains.
Each room is fitted with a queen size log bed.
Also enjoy relaxing and eating in the large common area and kitchen fitted with cozy couches, a custom-built log table and chairs, and beautiful custom log kitchen cabinets.
