It's a charming white, wood-sided two-story cottage, with a traditional green metal roof and green doors. In addition, it features a large boathouse, screened-in porch and expansive dock from which you can easily swim or fish!
Green Door Cottage sits directly on the water, in one of Lake Lure's largest and most desired coves. It's been carefully updated, furnished and decorated - retaining all the charm and comfort of a traditional lakefront cottage. Walk, jog, or swim around the cove, in this perfect location, to enjoy the pristine lake or wooded mountains surrounding the lake.
There are many activities in the area from horseback riding at a local stable, to shopping and antiquing in nearby villages, hiking at Chimney Rock Park and the surrounding Blue Ridge mountains, visiting the Biltmore house in Asheville, North Carolina (twenty-two miles away), boating, biking, golf, fishing, etc.

Green Door Cottage has central heat and air conditioning, beautiful wood floors, pine ceilings and stout collar beams. It is offered for short-term vacation rental year round and is suitable for 2-4 adults or a small family (of up to 6 persons). Clean well-mannered pets are welcome for an additional fee.
There are two cozy, nicely furnished bedrooms and a sleeping loft. The master has a queen-size bed. The second bedroom has a full-size bed and, the darling sleeping loft above has two twin-beds. Both the living room sofa and the great room sofa make comfortable queen-size beds, as well. (Extra pillows, sheets and blankets, for the sofa beds, are kept in the furniture hutches in each room.) There is one bathroom on the first floor, and a laundry room with washer/dryer, in the boathouse, which also contains a convenient bathroom with shower.
The comfortable kitchen, with charming new pine cabinetry, is fully equipped with cooking utensils, pots, pans and dishes. There is a stove, Kitchen-Aide dishwasher, disposal, microwave and refrigerator with icemaker. (Another refrigerator is located in the screened porch kitchenette!) The home has two color TVs with cable, and a beautiful antique tiger oak mantle with dark green marble surround over its wood-burning fireplace.
Swimming is made easy from the huge dock lakeside, with railings and a staircase that steps down into the water for your entry and exit. The boathouse also contains a paddleboat and canoe for your boating enjoyment.
Above the boathouse, there is a deck, leading off the screened-in porch (containing small kitchenette), with a jumping-off platform (over twenty-six foot water depth) for the enjoyment of thrill seeking kids and adults alike!
If you have your own motor boat, you may bring it and dock at the cottage. All Lake Lure boating permits, regulations and fees will apply. Inquire for details.
One of Lake Lure's nicest restaurants (serving lunch and dinner) is within walking distance from this lovely cove. Cook-in or go out to eat as you wish! Come to Lake Lure. It is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Rest, play, and reconnect with your loved ones.
