Fort William H. Seward Bed and Breakfast (also known as Fort Seward Bed and Breakfast) in Haines Alaska is one of Haines' finest lodging and accommodation options. This historic B&B is listed in the National register of Historic Places. House #1 is the first Commanding Officer's House (Col. Thomas Woodbury 1902-1904) of Fort William H.Seward, the first army post built in Alaska. Fort Seward Bed and Breakfast is Haines Alaska's original B & B and has been in operation since 1981.
This is a 3-story Victorian, with the owners residence on the top floor (Garret). The Smith family has their own private entrance, giving guests complete privacy on the first and second floors.
This Jefferson-style building has been restored in near original condition with 3 Belgian-tile fireplaces on the main floor and oak-bannistered stairway to the 2nd floor and front veranda with a sweeping 180 degree view of the ocean and 5,000+ft mountains. There are three rooms on the main-floor that share 2-full baths.
The 2nd floor has two rooms each with a bath, and 2 (1)-bedroom suites,with private baths. Suite 4A has a sweeping, 180 degree, ocean/mountain view. All room guests have kitchen privileges on the main-floor.
