The First Light Bed & Breakfast is located on the waterfront in the quaint village of East Blue Hill, Maine. First Light is nestled in McHeard Cove, a place of unsurpassed beauty with a sense of peacefulness and serenity. Yet, it is only minutes from a variety of activities, places to see, and things to do. Our Inn is also our home, so it reflects our casual and comfortable nature. As you enter throuth the foyer, you will find yourself in the great room (our living room). There are large sliding doors facing the cove. A couch is strategically placed in front of the glass doors, so that you can sit and enjoy the view. There is a fireplace (used on cooler nights and in the winter), loaded book shelves to explore, a grand piano to play, and comfortable chairs to entice you to "do nothing

There are three (3) rooms at First Light B&B. The Seaside Garden Room and Lighthouse Suite have spectacular views of McHeard's Cove and Blue Hill Bay beyond. The Maine Room has a distant view of McHeard Stream and a salt water pond. With the opening of the Maine Room, it allows for the Seaside Garden Room and Maine Room to be considered a suite for families and/or friends traveling together. ise early and climb the winding wooden stairs to the top of the tower to experience "First Light" over the bay. Smell the fresh salt air and sip coffee in the lighthouse tower. The 360 degree panoramic tower view will waken you with a sense of wonder. Or you can wander down the beach and sit upon the rocks experiencing the water first hand. You might glimpse a seal, osprey, eagle, loon, or some of our other wildlife. homemade breakfast is served in the sunny dining room, which shares the same beautiful view as you have experienced throughout the house. You may choose to have breakfast outside on the patio, or maybe even in your room. The house specialties include a Finnish Oven Pancake (Pannukakku or Rupsua), Blueberry Stuffed French Toast and Baked Oatmeal. Blueberry muffins are served fresh each morning. fter breakfast, relax for a while in the living room or top of the tower. Gaze at the sea and watch the ever changing views and colors, read a book, talk, or just "be". irst Light is a great place to use as a "home port" for your day trips. Just minutes away you will find Blue Hill with a variety of New England history, antiques, crafts, art galleries, and summer cultural life. The Blue Hill Peninsula is wonderful to explore with its varied scenery of rocky seacoast villages to bluberry barrens. Further down the road is beautiful Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Or Bring your canoe or kayak and start your coastal explorations from our beach. or a change of pace, you can just relax and enjoy the beauty of First Light as you sit on the patio or down on the beach.
