First Farm Inn
2510 Stevens Rd
Petersburg, Kentucky

Turn down Stevens Road and slip into a time before weed whackers and pounding boom boxes. Wind your way to First Farm Inn, a quiet refuge for two-and four-footed friends who enjoy tasty, healthy food, comfortable surroundings and warm companionship. Repeatedly named Best for Rest & Relaxation and an outstanding small business in Northern Kentucky, First Farm Inn is an elegantly updated 1870s farmhouse. Set on 20 acres, it is just outside Cincinnati, Ohio, in Kentucky's rolling hills where Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio join. Spacious rooms have queen-sized beds and private baths. Bountiful homemade breakfast options vary from multigrain banana chocolate chip pancakes to pasta carbonara or Swiss Rosti. Spend a morning or afternoon with the horses, learning how to communicate with them and how they perceive their world as you groom, tack up, school in the riding arena then tour the farm on horseback. Enjoy an in-room massage by a licensed therapist; relax under the open sky in the whirlpool; fish, row or paddle around the pond; rock on the veranda; or warm up beside the fireplace. Gift certificates. Perfect North Ski packages. Midweek, multi-day discounts. A half-hour away, downtown Cincinnati offers all the variety and excitement of a big city art galleries, museums, professional sports, botanical gardens, zoo and more.

The green room was so pretty and spacious with a lovely bathroom to match! We both enjoyed ourselves so much. We are both country gals turned city gals so this was very enjoyable, like going back in time, but more luxurious! What a great breakfast. Good luck, hope to see you again. ”Â

Other Things to Do

Whether you're an experienced rider missing your own horse on vacation or have never had the nerve to sit on a horse, you'll have a great time with the friendly, healthy, happy horses at First Farm Inn. With a wide variety of breeds, sizes, colors, ages and training backgrounds, our horses are fun for everyone. First Farm Inn offers two-hour horsemanship sessions for B&B guests and others. Sessions include grooming and tacking up, discussing the differences in horse's understanding of their world and physical perceptions of prey animal vs. predator as well as balance, coordination and connection with horse and human bodies. Unlike most "trail rides," individuals must control their own horse, not follow nose to tail. Riders practice steering and communication in the riding arena before walking and trotting around the rest of the farm. Rides end with removing tack, grooming, bathing, feeding treats and doing carrot stretches
