Ken and Sandy Lefever invite you to follow in the footsteps of two former residents John A. Dempster and Charles H. Sloan. Learn the history of these two prominent Nebraska senators and the dramatic saga of Ken's Huguenot ancestor who migrated from France to America in 1708. Also enhancing the enchantment of this 1887 Italianate is memorabilia of Ken's and Sandy's own family stories.
A French flair is found in the home's décor and breakfast entrees--albums of travels to France, French films, and servings of crepes and Quiche Lorraine in addition to traditional cuisine. Sandy, a former French teacher, may provide a mini-immersion experience en parlant francais a la table.
After a walk in three acres of woods, guests can curl up in a homemade quilt, leaf through the pages of a book in the library, or soak up some sun in one of two porches the expansive outdoor porch or the newly enclosed sun porch with its wood burning antique stove. Wherever your spirit takes you, the quiet street, the chattering of squirrels, birdsong, and the soothing sounds of the fountain will speak to the soul.
Dempster Woods offers a retreat to a simpler time, a slower pace, where a couple can enjoy a private get-away or a family can reserve the entire facility. Re-enchantment with daily living and re-acquaintance with loved ones are at the top of the list of our offerings!
