Cresthaven By The Sea
19 Ferry Lane Maitland
Maitland, Nova Scotia

Cresthaven, a bed and breakfast inn providing bed and breakfast accommodations and lodging, lies on the shores of Maitland along the Glooscap Trail, one of Nova Scotia's pristine treasures. Situated on the Bay of Fundy, Cresthaven provides one of the finest examples of Maitland's elegant historical homes that has brought the village to the forefront and made it Nova Scotia's first Heritage Conservation District. Constructed for the most part by the master carpenters of the local ship building industry, the homes of Maitland provide a extraordinary exhibition of unique 19th century architecture. Cresthaven was built in the Classical Revival Style for Captain John Macomber in 1865. The roof eaves are enhanced with dense bracketry and dentils, and the corners of the house are tastefully framed with wide, finely moulded pilasters.

Situated high atop a bank overlooking the river we are just steps away from what was the original wharf, where residents would board a small ferry to be carried across the Shubenacadie river. You can still see the posts from the original wharf if you venture onto the beach for a walk or perhaps a bit of rock hounding.
