Columbus Street Inn is located in what is considered to be one of the oldest existing structures in the northwest Alabama town of Fayette. The original house was built in 1870 and over the years, has been home to many Fayette families. It was renovated, "modernized," and opened to the public as Columbus Street Inn in the later 1900's, and has existed as such since then. Present owners, Ben and Mary Hightower, purchased the Inn in November of 2005, hoping to keep the heritage of the structure intact while making improvements that will enhance the stay of all their guests. Columbus Street Inn has four guestrooms just "Waiting to Welcome You" for your overnight stay in Fayette. Each guest room is tastefully decorated with comfortable furnishings, many of which are period antiques. Located in a quiet, prestigious neighborhood, Columbus Street Inn is less than a mile from the downtown business district of Fayette, area restaurants, recreational areas, and churches. Guests will enjoy visiting the Fayette Arts Museum, home to a special collection by renowned local artist Jimmy Lee Sudduth, the Fayette Train Depot Museum, and Guthrie Smith Park and its peaceful walking trails, Lake Hutto, and children's playground and splashpad.
