Virginia natives, Rick and Mary Bury, were attracted to Maine's slower pace of life and the beauty of the area.
Rick, now associated with H F Pinkham in Machias, is entering his 35th year in the lumber/millwork business. His love of history and pride in his Southern heritage are reflected in the renovation of the library at Captain Cates. Now known as The Virginia Room, the room now boasts portraits of Confederate generals and battlefield artwork in addition to the television, books, puzzles and games provided for their guests entertainment. Mary, an office manager and bookkeeper, is turning her housekeeping and cooking skills to management of Captain Cates. She looks forward to sharing her love of the outdoors, antiques and travel with their guests.
Rick and Mary look forward to sharing their enthusiasm for Down East Maine with guests who want to relax, look around, and be pampered.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept pets. In addition, Maine state law stipulates that this is a non-smoking and drug-free B&B. Well-mannered children are certainly welcome.
