This historic "Old Mansion" (as it was first called) was built in 1792 by Richard Stratton, the wealthy owner of a cotton and woolen mill in the village of Swanzey. The "Old Mansion" stayed in the Stratton family until about 1841, when it was sold to Roswell Whitcomb. Since that time, the Whitcomb House name has lived on.
Each of the six bedrooms set aside for travelers have private baths and are named for the six covered bridges of Cheshire County. The Inn is located in the beautiful southwestern corner of New Hampshire, five miles south of Keene, in a rural village with auction houses and antique shops near by. Come for a day or two, and simplify your life while relaxing in this historic setting.
