The Washington Coast's Long Beach Peninsula and Columbia River attractions offer a wealth of things to do. Walk our famous beach, relax in the Breakers indoor pool and spa, then curl up in front of your fireplace and enjoy the tranquility of your own private suite.
Two hundred years ago members of the Lewis and Clark Expedition ventured up the Long Beach Peninsula to the future site of the Breakers of Long Beach. Here, William Clark carved his initials on a tree. In commemoration of that historic vent, a bronze replica of this initialed tree has been erected in front of the Breakers and can be easily reached via a path from the Breakers lobby and viewed through the Breakers web cam. When you stay with us at the Breakers, you are literally staying at the end of the Lewis and Clark Trail on the sand of Long Beach, Washington.

The Breakers is situated on 24 acres of beachfront lawn and dunes. Walk our famous beach then relax in our indoor pool and spa. On our premises are trails through the dunes to the ocean and to the new Lewis and Clark Monument, a sand volleyball court and large playground for the kids, a basketball court, horseshoes, and a covered gazebo containing barbeques, counter space and picnic tables.
Wildlife abounds with grouse, pheasants, killdeer, raccoons and deer on our premises as well as the multitude of shorebirds on the Peninsula's 28 miles of pure sand beach. The ruffled grouse shown here became quite tame and was a favorite with Breakers guests before heading for greener pastures.
A walk on the beach always presents opportunities for snapshots of the many shorebirds. Some days the sandpipers seem to form a moving blanket on the beach with their lightning-fast legs and pleasant chirps. Recently we have seen many hawks and eagles - including the nation's Bald Eagle. Now and then seals and sea lions can be spotted in the surf. This year's clamming weekends have been very bountiful with the reward being a memorable experience and great meal.
The beach is a great place for family picnics, kite flying, walking or jogging on the firm sand and breathing the ever-present fresh air. It is said that our beach enjoys the purest air in the world, being scrubbed many times on it's long trip from Asia. Later in the day, enjoy a beautiful sunset from your beach blanket or Breakers balcony.
