Bed & Breakfast at Walnut Hill
541 Chandler Mill Rd
Avondale, Pennsylvania

Walnut Hill, on a quiet country road facing a meadow and stream, offers a cozy place for a weekend get-a-way, vacation or business travel. Our antique-filled ca. 1840 mill house was built by the Chandler family on land that was originally granted by William Penn to his daughter Latitia in 1701. Chandler's Mill was built in 1760 in what is now our meadow. During the Revolutionary War the Queen's American Rangers were encamped on the hillside opposite the bed and breakfast while enroute to the Battle of Brandywine. Nature lovers enjoy the grounds where horses graze the meadow and a great blue heron fishes the stream. Guests delight in walking the country road, sitting on the wicker-filled porch or relaxing in the hot tub. We thoroughly enjoy meeting and sharing our home with guests. Sandy, a former Winterthur docent, and Tom, a retired Air Force navigator, are pleased to share their 44 years of experience in the Brandywine Valley to help you plan an enjoyable visit to this wonderful part of the world.
