This beautiful Italianate home, built in 1873, is situated on a four acre parcel of land in the centre of the City of Stratford overlooking Lake Victoria and just minutes from the Stratford Festival and the Stratford Golf and Country Club.
Stratfordites have long been fascinated by the remarkable property at 300 William Street. For years, people in and around Stratford have longed to venture down the winding driveway past the grove of trees that stand guard around one of Stratford's historic mansions.
During the time between 1909 until 1929, this home was operated by the Hislop sisters as the Ancrum Brae Private Hospital, a sanatorium whose advertisements claimed it was "particularly adapted to restore impaired nerves and tired brains and bodies". In today's terms, this would be classified as a spa or retreat home.
Today, Alexandra is Stratford's premier Bed & Breakfast. It is also Stratford's " Designer's Showcase Home" and has been recently decorated by 12 different area designers.
Room rates are $275.00 CDN per night including full gourmet breakfast in the morning.
