TEA TIME IN COLORADO

Buffalo Burgers
Buffalo burgers, once a fringe food, have now found their place in everyday fare. Leaner than beef and a bit sweeter, buffalo meat has spurred a large and growing following. No longer roaming the vast eastern plains, the buffalo of today are ranch-raised and well-taken care of, providing some of the best-tasting meat around. Talk to a local grocer for a pound or two of prime bison cuts, and grill them at your condo after a day on the slopes. Or get yourself seated at a restaurant that specializes in perfectly seasoned and prepared buffalo meat. If burgers aren’t your forte, choose from buffalo fajitas, steaks or roasts.
Melons
Rocky Ford, in Southeast Colorado. is one of American’s premier melon growing towns. Often, when people think about the best slice of watermelon they’ve ever had, it conjures up images and memories of spitting seeds and eating the red to the rind — and it puts a smile on their face no matter how old they are. Relive these memories in Rocky Ford, where this rotund fruit is sweeter than your fondest memory of it. And don’t forget to sample their cantaloupe, another regional favorite. In many places, you can pick your own cantaloupe from the vine or select the perfect sweet sphere from a roadside farm stand. Either way, Colorado melons are delicious pieces of perfection.
